EPICS written by tree
2021. 3.20 - 4.11
Youngeun Museum of Contemporary Art is holding the “EPICS written by tree” exhibition by Kim Wheiza, the artist-in-residence of the 11th Youngeun Art Studio Program, which is part of the Youngeun Artist Project. The artist left Korea and stayed for a long time in the great nature of Long Island, the United States. She has been comforted by the trees in the nature and by the walking paths in her lonely foreign life. This exhibition conveys many stories of the artist that the trees contain, by means of their grains. Kim Wheiza hopes that the exhibition serves as a place to sympathize with the artist who fully embodies the image of loneliness felt in the beautiful nature in her work as well as its sincerity.

Stone With Engraved Words
2021. 3. 20 - 4. 11
Youngeun Museum of Contemporary Art is holding the “Stone With Engraved Words” exhibition by Kim Junmyeong, the artist-in-residence of the 11th Youngeun Art Studio Program, which is part of the Youngeun Artist Project. The artist is working on objects, items, and situations found around him. Inspired by the intense impression of a stone that he accidentally encountered during his residence at the Youngeun Art Studio, Kim Junmyeong pays attention to the act of engraving words on the stone and the temporal and historical nature of the result.
We hope the audience to freely appreciate the micro-history, traces of time, and the individuality of diverse stones through the experience of encountering stone objects of different shapes spread across the exhibition hall.

In and Out of Line
2021. 5.15 - 6.6
Youngeun Museum of Contemporary Art is holding Kwon Jaehyun’s solo exhibition ‘In and Out of Line’ as part of the Youngeun Artist Project.
The artist works to interpret the story of the ambiguous but clear boundary between human choice and social choice in connection with individual and social situations.
From various perspectives, the artist has considered the boundaries and lines that are different and intertwined with each other, the inside and outside of the boundaries that set up numerous social situations that we often face, as well as the standards that distinguish them.
This exhibition presents works that intuitively and sharply capture reality through structural and experimental attempts and imagination.

Lines become an Adjective and Colors become a Verb
2021. 4.17 - 5.9
Youngeun Museum of Contemporary Art is holding Park Eunyoung’s solo exhibition ‘Lines Become Adjective and Colors Become a Verb’ as part of the Youngeun Artist Project.
The artist is working to reveal the unique sensibility that can be expressed through the elements of ‘line’ and ‘color’ as well as her attitude to performing her work. In her work, 'color' serves as a means of emotional expression, and 'line' acts as an element to emphasize her attitude toward her work.
This exhibition presents works that are realized through canvas painting, video, and paper drawing by reducing the thoughts and emotions left in social issues and experiences captured in specific places to ‘line’ and ‘color’. We hope that the archives in the exhibition hall, which have undergone a process of sufficient reflection and practice, can reach the audience in a way of healing and comfort.

Young&Young Artist Project
2021. 3.20 - 7. 4

무제 untitled
2021.7.10(sat)-8.8(sun)
The Youngeun Museum of Contemporary Art is holding Lee Sunjoo’s solo exhibition the ‘Untitled’ as part of the Youngeun Artist Project. The artist captures everyday objects in photographs like a still life. The medium of photography absolutely relies on light to show existing objects as they are. We believe that only visible objects exist through the images shown in this way.
In this exhibition the artist is showing that even if light disappears and cannot be seen, its existence does not necessarily disappear. This mechanical photography technique shows the temporality of afterimages and traces in everyday still life. We hope that the exhibition can serve as a space of appreciation where visitors can feel the quiet movement of objects in the photo.

푸르던 구슬 The blue marble
2021.8.14(sat)-9.5(sun)
Youngeun Museum of Contemporary Art(YEMCA) holds an art exhibition ‘The blue marble’ by 11th Yongeun Art Studio artist  Jeon Gabin as a part of Youngeun Artist Project. Jeon Gabin represents the game board of the blue marble as cement, using the condition of the exhibition hall.

Even though cement is the key material for architecture, it is not easily exposed in the city because it is hidden in the completed buildings.  The artist adopted this attribute and recreated several social phenomena as a form of the blue marble game in the exhibition hall. We hope this exhibition to be an opportunity to reflect on the several sides of modern society that we have been unconsciously encountered.
